Cookie Policy
Effective Date: June 11, 2026 · SparksVault
This policy explains what cookies are, how SparkVault uses them, and what choices you have. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, and collect information about how you interact with the platform. Cookies can be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (remain until they expire or you delete them).
We also use local storage and session storage — browser technologies that work similarly to cookies but are never sent to servers. They store preferences and cached data entirely on your device.
Cookies We Use
We group cookies into three categories. You may opt out of non-essential categories using the banner at the bottom of any page or via Settings in your account.
Necessary Cookies
Always OnThese cookies are essential for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled. Without them, features like login, session management, and security checks would not work.
| Name / Key | Purpose | Storage | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase Auth Token | Authenticates your session — keeps you logged in across page navigations. | IndexedDB / localStorage | Session / 1 hour (auto-refreshed) |
| sv_role | Stores your current active role (Owner, Manager, Tenant, Vendor) so the UI renders the correct portal. | localStorage | Session |
| sv_active_workspace | Remembers which workspace (property manager account) is active when you switch between organizations. | localStorage | Session |
| sv_org_session_selected | Flags that you have manually selected an org this session, preventing automatic org-switching on reload. | sessionStorage | Tab session |
| sv_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent preferences (accept/decline/custom). Used to avoid showing the banner on every page. | localStorage | 1 year |
Analytics Cookies
OptionalThese help us understand how users interact with the platform — which pages are visited, which features are used most, and where errors occur. All data is aggregated and anonymous. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics cookies.
| Name / Key | Purpose | Storage | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics | Tracks anonymous page views, session duration, and feature engagement. Used to improve the product. | Cookie / localStorage | 2 years |
| Performance Monitoring | Firebase Performance SDK records API response times and render latency to detect slow pages. | In-memory | Session |
Preference Cookies
OptionalThese store your personal UI choices so SparkVault remembers your settings between visits. Disabling them means your preferences will reset every time you open a new browser session.
| Name / Key | Purpose | Storage | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| sv_theme_v2 | Remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode. | localStorage | Permanent |
| sv_ai_copilot_seen | Records that you have completed the AI Copilot first-time guided tour. | localStorage | Permanent |
| ai_outer_tab / ai_inner_tab | Remembers which AI Copilot tab you were last viewing. | sessionStorage | Tab session |
| ai_chat_history | Preserves your AI assistant conversation within the current browser session. | sessionStorage | Tab session |
| sv_sidebar_collapsed | Saves whether the sidebar is in collapsed or expanded state. | localStorage | Permanent |
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the following methods:
- Cookie Banner: A consent banner appears the first time you visit SparkVault (or if you have not yet responded). Use the Customise option to toggle individual categories, then click Save Preferences.
- Browser Settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies via their privacy settings. Note that blocking necessary cookies will prevent login from working correctly.
- Clearing Storage: You can clear all stored data by opening your browser's developer tools → Application → Clear Storage. This resets your consent choice and the banner will reappear.
Third-Party Services
SparkVault uses the following third-party services that may set their own cookies or collect data independently. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies directly.
Authentication, database, hosting, and analytics. Firebase may set cookies for session management and performance measurement.
Address autocomplete on property forms. Google may collect usage data per their standard Maps API terms.
Payment processing. Stripe uses cookies for fraud prevention and payment flow security. No payment data is stored on SparkVault servers.
